Dr. Obiora Eneanya

Dr. Obiora Eneanya has extensive experience in coordinating and implementing large-scale global health projects. He is passionate about health system strengthening and believes that a healthy population and robust health systems form the bedrock of development. Through his work, he strives to achieve equitable healthcare, especially for underserved and neglected populations.
Currently, he serves as the Program Epidemiologist for The Carter Center’s Guinea Worm Eradication Program, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. In this role, he provides technical, operational, and epidemiological oversight to the Ministries of Health in Chad, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Mali, Cameroon, and Angola. Prior to this, Obiora held research positions in academia and the non-profit development sectors in the UK and the USA.
Obiora has a Bachelor of Science degree in Parasitology and Entomology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Nigeria, a Master of Science in Applied Epidemiology from the University of Nottingham, England, and a PhD in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from Imperial College London, earned under the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship.
